Auckland getting bulk of NZ transport funding

Tranzwatching Auckland, New Zealand

Minister of Transport Stephen Joyce has reminded Auckland [c 32% of New Zealand's population] that it is getting 46% of the nation's transport funding. Joyce names a long list of projects saying "We are talking billions of dollars of roading investment in Auckland ... as well as a massive investment in commuter rail."

  1. I wondered when someone was going to notice!!

See my first blog entry "Christchurch out of the loop"...actually then Mayor Garry Moore made a few wan remarks a few years ago about unfair roading expenditure, just before he was elevated to being a member of both Tranit NZ and Land Transport NZ!

Very hard to fight for funding with out a strong strategic plan and named projects
